It was always the Triune God’s plan to save fallen man from his sins...

before the foundation of the world.

Sin separates. Our ancestors Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect fellowship with God until sin crept in. The serpent beguiled Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil in which she convinced Adam to do the same and from that point on, man has walked in pride believing they are “good without God.” Man was banished from Paradise and headed down the broad way of destruction until God sent the Savior to redeem His own from this blind, dying world. But do not get it twisted- it was always the Triune God’s plan to save fallen man from his sins before the foundation of the world. (Eph. 1:3-6). O’ the unsearchable wisdom of God!

It is miraculous that any can be saved at all, with us being hostile towards God and children of wrath by nature (Eph. 2:1-3), therefore it takes a marvelous work of the Holy Spirit to show man their DESPERATE NEED for Jesus. When we understand that the Christ came for the sick, we must be made to see our grave illness and this is grievous to the ones whom Jesus loves.

The Matthew Henry commentary says::

“Those whom Christ designs to admit to the most intimate acquaintance with Him He FIRST makes sensible that they DESERVE to be set at the greatest distance from Him.”

How else would we see our need for Him? You and I must come to the realization that “the whole head is sick and the whole heart is faint” (Is. 1:5-6).

Like Isaiah, we can say, “Woe is me..for I am a man of unclean lips..” (Is. 6:5) and like Peter who said, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord” (Lk. 5:8) and like Paul, “wretched man I am” (Rom. 7:24) but in another place he said “Christ died to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Tim. 1:15). Don’t allow your sinfulness to drive you to despair, but by His Spirit let it drive you to the Cross.

Oh, He saves

Let Him become your life

Feelin' like you gone too far or you're too far gone

Oh, my Lord loves your type

Feelin' like you runnin' out of answers

He wants you right there

God only helps those who can't help themselves
